These processors are quite similar in price in Belgium, so the main difference lies in their intended use—gaming. Both offer strong performance for gaming, but the Ryzen 5 3600 may have better multi-core efficiency, while the i5-9600KF might provide a slightly smoother gaming experience depending on your specific needs. Choose based on what matters most to you!

Competitive against the Ryzen 5 3600. Excellent 144Hz speed, affordable motherboards for boosting performance, wide memory compatibility, and flexibility in choosing CPUs without being tied to a specific generation.

R5 3600 based on 6 cores, 12 threads, and AM4 design. Upgrade potential to 3900x within a year or two for second-hand models.

You didn’t consider the RAM speeds, that’s fine. Would the 9600KF’s 2-3 frame boost disappear with slower RAM? Compared to a 5,3600 with quicker RAM?

other elements come into play, yet in the end I believe the benefits in games will move from one title to another. The 3600 leads in certain areas, while the 9600k excels in others.

Ryzen's multiple-core benefits also aid in maintaining consistent frame rates. Regarding repeated exploits that repeatedly stress Intel CPUs, "fixed" issues gradually reduce performance.

Checking if there are any updates on this topic. Planning to purchase a CPU soon and not sure which model, just like the original poster who mainly uses it for gaming but also has Discord and Chrome running in the background while playing.
