Comparing gaming RIGs: Ryzen 1700 OC versus i7 7700K for CSGO
I have been thinking about building a gaming rig since a long time. Below are the things which i will be doing with this new Rig. 1. Most of the time i will be playing competitive CSGO on a 144hz monitor. 2. I will be streaming CSGO game play on YouTube or Twitch. 3. I will create CSGO related video content for my main YouTube channel. I want at least 170 fps on 1080p resolution while streaming. I know that single core performance of i7 7700k is better then r1700 but r1700 is better when it comes to streaming and video editing. I have watched many YouTube videos related to these 2 cpus but now i am really confused after watching many videos and reading reviews on Reddit (thanks to fucking biased communities) . I don't want this cpu to be a heater as well because i had really bad experience with AMD cpus in the past and at the same time i don't want to make my buy decision based on the future performance improvements (i still remember AMD'S promise when they released octa core cpu in 2012 which was never fulfilled). please help me to make the right decision because both the processors need different motherboards and if i make a wrong decision it will be a complete mesh .
Which graphics card are you planning to use? For pairing a 7700K/1700 with a 1070, I suggest opting for a 1080 with an R5 1600.
For streaming and video editing, a 1700 is suggested because the additional cores make a big difference. Although the 7700k outperforms the Ryzen CPU significantly, both exceed 200 fps already, so that’s not a big issue. The Ryzen doesn’t overheat like some other high-end CPUs, making it a great choice for your setup.
My GPU is an R7 model, which I believe offers better performance for streaming.
AMD really stands out for its energy efficiency, particularly compared to Intel's recent advances in manufacturing processes.
The cores operate at a lower frequency, which reduces power usage. Keep in mind the 7700K starts at 4.5GHz. It makes sense that TBH, X99 CPUs weren’t built for efficiency... Edited May 12, 2017 by PCGuy_5960 Autocorrect
Thanks for the feedback. I'm considering the GTX 1070 for my GPU. The GTX 1080 isn't within my budget, and the R5 has a hexa-core design if that's accurate. Between the R5 1600 and R7 1700, I believe the latter would be better suited for my needs (please confirm if you're correct). I'm aiming for at least 170 fps while streaming, though I'm not sure if the Ryzen 1700 can handle that without any streaming. Some YouTube videos showed around 180 fps without streaming, so I want to verify that.
I’ll go with the GTX 1070 since the 1080 is too expensive. A hexa-core R5 1600 seems like a solid pick, and I’m curious about your thoughts on the R7 1700 option.
