Three attempts improved performance, yet the new version wins in overall quality. I liked both games, so it's worth trying if three is affordable.
Fallout 3 struggles with newer systems and causes frequent crashes, yet it offers a solid gaming experience and compelling narrative. New Vegas feels more detailed, similar to Skyrim, with quests affecting the world differently. I appreciate the improved graphics, especially lighting and bloom effects. The absence of iron sights is a plus, and VATS becomes more practical in FO3. Overall, it's a personal choice—New Vegas is trickier but has stronger mod support.
I liked both, but I played three before NV. I’m unsure how much I’d have liked three if I’d started with NV first, since NV is essentially the same as three but with more content and features. Still, I thought 3 was way more memorable in terms of story. In reality, they’re quite similar. So if you liked one, you should enjoy the other—though I wouldn’t say 3 is worth playing over NV, as you suggested.
I really liked both, but for me, FO3 offers a much better experience with its story and DLC additions.
