The realistic choice seems to be opting for a 5800X3D or a 5700X3D. Avoid passing on something someone else purchased. We’re focusing strictly on what’s best without personal distractions. Considering everything, the best approach is to settle in with a 5800X3D and embrace life as it is. It’s important to adapt to our current situation. You're fine.

You'd anticipate a performance issue stemming from memory bandwidth constraints in a R5 5600. The 3D v-cache significantly reduces this problem. For context, the Tauren Mill versus Southshore matchup wouldn't experience delays with a 5800x3D setup.

It’s most straightforward to gauge performance in the calm setting of a city, yet big arenas and raids also face significant challenges. The issue isn’t a CPU bottleneck from multiple cores or usage, but rather how quickly the CPU communicates GPU locations for players or NPCs. This depends on IPC and memory speed (including cache levels). It’s less noticeable in dungeons and arenas compared to raids and battlegrounds since there are fewer players and NPCs for the CPU to manage with the server. For Ryzen 5000, the problem lies in L3 cache or memory bandwidth, clearly shown by 3D v-cache speed improvements. Has anyone moved from a 5800x to a 5800x3d? What was the performance increase? - Off-Topic / Games, Gaming and Hardware - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com) Additional examples.

It changes a lot depending on the source. If you have a 5600X3D in a microcenter, it's worth considering. Otherwise, opt for the 5800X3D or keep an eye on the 5700X3D release. The performance gap might not be huge now, but it should improve with better optimization and caching in WoW. Edited January 10, 2024 by filpo

You mentioned upgrading your RAM to 3600 MHz on a previous post. I purchased a 3200 GB 2x8 kit from Silicon Power, but received pens instead of the parts. At Best Buy I found only 2x16 3600 Corsair units and had to buy another 3200 GB kit. After installing it, my system started but had stuttering problems. I switched it to auto and it stabilized at 2666Mhz. If this kit doesn’t work on another machine, I’ll return it. I’m considering getting another one or selling them for backups, just in case they degrade.

Consider resetting CMOS after installation or try booting without any RAM. The Corsair package should function, and it's improbable the issue is with the product.

I have another query: the penalty mentioned is 3600 2x16, and I recall it was 2x8.

Referenced 2x8 and 4x8 configurations due to your existing setup. If you bought a fresh kit offering 2x16GB, that would be ideal. This provides the best performance for both DDR4 and DDR5 models available right now.

Already tried once and it didn't work, I'll attempt a different machine next.
