Based on the title, you're evaluating refurbished laptops to swap out your old MacBook Pro. You're aiming to stay within a £500 budget. You're considering either the M1 Air or Book 2 Pro, and since you don’t use your device for gaming, it’s mainly about performance for work and media consumption. The Book 2 Pro is currently cheaper at £355 compared to £490 for the MacBook Pro, though you’re worried about its durability. Your current Mac has been reliable, so the M1 Air seems like a safer choice. Any recommendations would be helpful, and I’m open to suggestions on other laptops in a similar price range!

The M1 air is an outdated and restrictive option. You're seeking a system with a minimum of 16gb of RAM, ideally 32 for longer use. Don't accept Apple's claim of 8gb equating to 16gb on a typical PC—it was just a way to justify cheaper RAM and encourage more frequent upgrades. More RAM is always better. If you're considering the Galaxy book with at least 16gb, I'd choose that. What storage capacity are you evaluating? Are there other alternatives you're considering?

Seconded.
16 Gb is becoming quite restrictive and it won't be long before it's insufficient. Perhaps you can extend it enough to make a difference, but if you can, aim for 32. 32 Gb remains quite manageable except for RAM-heavy applications.
64 Gb is more than sufficient for your needs and most scenarios. 48 Gb is similar.

Both the Galaxy Book2 Pro and the Book2 Pro360 are available with 8GB RAM, but the Pro360 offers 16GB RAM and 512GB storage for less than £600. The i7-1260P is also available. It might be a bit over budget, but it looks like a solid option. I'm open to suggestions if you have any!

Do you want a slim and lightweight laptop? I discovered one that looks like a good offer, though it has some minor issues, but the price is reasonable.

Thank you, I'll check it out! How do you feel about Lenovo's durability? And do you think Samsung performs better than Lenovo in that regard?
