Searching for an affordable setup and checking performance. Interested in gamepass and Valorant too, with a GTX 760.
Looking for the correct processor model? Also, what is the Dell model you're referring to? If it's LGA 775 or 1155, it might not be compatible.
Do you have a budget in mind? A fully loaded OptiPlex 790 setup would need an i7 2600 and at least 8GB RAM. You'll also require a replacement power supply for the GTX760, which is a relatively weak GPU and won't run most recent titles smoothly. This combination would likely cost around 250 dollars, which might be a bit steep for a system meant for a child.
A 1050 would work better. Anything that doesn’t require a 6-pin connector isn’t too bad. A 1050/750ti or 1050/1650 would be suitable options.
However, this would still require purchasing something—either a PSU or a 1050. At that stage, I’d prefer a PSU since it would be more affordable than buying a used GTX1050, provided one is available.
