If your priority is gaming, a 9700K will suffice for some time. If you don't have a motherboard yet, consider a 3700X or hold off until 10900K (or the name might change)?
Why not aim for a 3700x? It’s more affordable than both the 9700k and 9900k, and it offers threads that go beyond just yin and yang.
