Comparing 9700k and 9900k for gaming, plus a note on KF.
Comparing 9700k and 9900k for gaming, plus a note on KF.
Are there any advantages to choosing the 9900k instead of the 9700k? Costs are nearly the same, but the 9900k tends to get quite hot, which worries me even with my Noctua NH-D15. I usually play at 2k ultrawide, but sometimes I run games like Age of Empires with friends, so I might face heavy CPU constraints. I could also opt for the KF versions of both CPUs, which lack their GPU features I don’t need. There’s only a slight price difference, but what about thermal performance? Anyone have any insights? Before anyone mentions Ryzen, I’m moving up from a 9600k unless I really want a big upgrade and don’t mind spending a lot on another motherboard—I’d rather save up or wait another generation or two.
Current rates are: 280€ for the 9700k, 290€ for the 9900k, 300€ for the 9700k, and 330€ for the 9900k.
I’d pick either the 9900k or the 9900kf for an extra 8 threads. In my view, the 30€ is worth it. The 9700k offers more value overall, but the 9900k has a slightly better single-core score. You can review the details here: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu...Hz&id=3334
