Hey everyone, I'm weighing my options and not sure which direction to take. My PC is running well, the GPU is fine, but I'm planning an upgrade. Right now I have an 8700 non-K 3080 with 10GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 3600 MHz processor on a Z370 Asus Prime board. I'm thinking about mid-range upgrades—either a 7600X or a 13500 with 6000 MHz RAM. I'm not sure if CLA really matters. Mostly I play games and do some emulation, and I haven't used the system for any serious work tasks in years. So I'm just going because I can and would appreciate some advice on the best path. Thanks!

I’ve been gathering intel since 2004 (unknown sources – Q6600, i7-950, 6600k, 9900k). I moved to an AMD 7700x in November and am extremely satisfied. The upgrade route is solid—it still supports the socket for a while. In three to four years, I hope I can upgrade to a 9800X3D and possibly get a new GPU, ending up with a brand-new system without major changes. On the Intel side, the options are limited—there’s only a handful of paths like the 13500 to 13900k. Here’s a photo from Hardware Unboxed showing the 7600x at around 10 games at 1440p; it really demonstrates its gaming performance. I’m definitely leaning toward AMD this time.

If you have some time, I might look into the 7800X3D.

Upgrading the CPU is a smart move with the 3080 chipset. There are several factors to consider, both technical and practical. Intel’s newer sockets (or 14th-gen max) are still in use, while AMD offers a brand-new socket that might be more reliable long-term. I saw one benchmark where the AMD 7600X performed better than the 13500, though I’m not sure if it was trustworthy. It seems a larger cache on AMD could help, but you might wait for a good deal or consider the 7800X3D as suggested by someone else.

In the US, Newegg is offering a discount today with a B650 motherboard and 7600X for $338, which enhances the appeal of the Ryzen choice.

Sure, it seems like the value for this item is quite impressive—especially at around $449 for the 7800X3D.

Hey everyone, I'm still figuring out my setup. I'm considering a 5800x3D and high-end DDR4 RAM, but first I need to test how much faster things will be. I plan to run some benchmarks before and after the upgrade to see the real impact. I don’t have much experience with synthetic tests, so any tips would be great. For fun, I’m thinking about running World of Warcraft—especially Warhammer 3 for better performance—and maybe Cyberpunk. The others might not notice much difference with a 3080, but it’s more about having fun. What other games or programs should I test?

you can find quotes from others by checking benchmarks for that CPU and compare them with your own, or look at what people typically use to test performance, especially in games.
