Comparing 60fps playback versus video capture at 60fps.
Hey everyone, just a thought I had while watching some gameplay on YouTube. At 720p and 60fps, it feels so much smoother than when I play at 60fps on my PC. I’m pretty sure my monitor supports that frame rate, and I usually get around 65-70 fps. Why does watching videos at 60fps feel so different? No motion blur, right? It’s a bit confusing. Anyone else have this experience?
It seems you're questioning whether the game is delivering a steady frame rate. This is often compared to FPS versus frame rate debates.
Do you have v-sync turned on? It might lead to stuttering or lag, and sometimes your frame rate drops below 60 frames, which can make the video appear to jump or lag while the content stays at 60 frames.
It might be due to lingering micro-stutters at the edges, meaning I'm not consistently hitting 60fps even though frame rates indicate it.
No VSync, but perhaps the issue lies in consistency. Running just a bit over 60fps might still lead to screen tears, making it feel more choppy rather than smooth.
Several possible origins might exist. You could attempt a cap at 60fps (if the game allows) and observe any changes.
When they display it at 60fps, they also maintain a steady frame rate of 60fps rather than YouTube's previous 30fps. This change makes the video feel noticeably smoother.
