Aiming for the top frame rate across all games means the GPU must deliver. If you have the hardware to demand it, the 5600X offers advantages, though the difference may be subtle when both are limited by the GPU. In bottlenecked scenarios, you'd notice a significant boost in productivity tasks that fully use the cores, while the 3900X provides double the cores and better performance gains due to higher IPC.
Performance drops noticeably on single-core CPUs, especially when games hit 100-150 FPS. It’s hard to ignore the impact of a 20 FPS drop below 5600Hz. I’d definitely take it, since the difference isn’t huge but multi-threaded gains are likely better.

I believe most games in a couple of years that are already available today will be 8-core aware. I plan to go 3900x, and the 5700/5900xx series could be a drop-in upgrade in a few years if needed. Almost certain both will reach 2070Super in about 99% of cases.
