Hey, I'm checking out a 4790k with 4.5GHz on a Z87X-OC board. Got 16GB 2400MHz RAM and the GTX1070. Thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 3000?

It really stands out, though the 4790 isn't without value—it remains solid now, but signs suggest it's nearing its end.

Was es sich lohnenswert ansehen, ob der Wechsel sinnvoll ist?

Do you require the results? I think it's better to hold off until AM5 is released around 2021—it will be a fresh platform with significantly stronger CPU performance.

I mainly enjoy playing on 1440p and I believe I should hold off until the next update.

The R5 3600 and R7 3700X offer solid performance, but the i7 4770K remains capable of handling most games well. It pairs nicely with the GTX 1070. Unless you specifically require more processing power elsewhere, upgrading might not be necessary.

I own a 4790k on a cooked Asrock H97M. I was thinking about selling the i7 and using it to upgrade to a more affordable x570 Aorus, aiming to build an AM4 motherboard. Based on what’s shared here, I’ll stick with that plan but if the motherboard wasn’t cooked, I’d likely keep the 4790k since it offers great value over five years.
