Preparing to wrap up my latest setup (all except CPU and GPU), I'm keeping an eye on upcoming releases but uncertain about the optimal choice now with the 5800x price hike. Initially aiming for 5800x and 3070, should a 3700/3800x and 3080 be worth it for gaming? Either chip seems suitable for my needs outside, so the decision comes down to which combo delivers the best performance. Given UK pricing trends, both should likely sit around similar costs. I'm playing at 1440p 165Hz, focusing on CS, GTA5, Destiny 2, occasional AAA titles and Warzone (crossplay for console friends). Already purchased: 3200Mhz C16 Corsair Vengeance RGB (16GB), Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro 750w modular PSU 240mm AIO.
Consider upgrading to a GPU from the 3000 series if you want better performance, particularly when gaming at 1440p. I currently enjoy 1440p and recently bought a 3800XT for $280. I plan to wait for more benchmark results before deciding to move into the 5000 series.
