Hello! I've been looking into these RAM options quite a bit... but I still couldn't find the information I needed. Most people mention 16GB (2x8) at 3600MHz, 16GB (2x8) at 3200MHz, or 14GB (2x8) at 3600MHz with different timings like 14-14-14-34. Some say 3600 is faster, others think the difference isn't huge, and a few claim 3200 is actually quicker. When it comes to latency, 3600 CL16 has about 8.88 ns while 3200 CL14 has 8.75 ns, so technically the latter is slightly better. But I've heard that even with that small gap, 3600 will still be an improvement. Considering overclocking and XMP profiles, it seems turning a 3200 CL14 into a 3600 CL16 could work well. Since you mentioned a Ryzen 5 3600x and an MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, I wonder if upgrading to 3600 might be more practical than going higher. What do you think? Obtain the 3200 CL14 model. It offers a lower price and can be upgraded to the pricier variant.

It makes sense why some people prefer the 3600MHz CL16. It’s likely only beneficial if you aim to push performance beyond that frequency, as moving up to 3600 is generally simpler than jumping to 3200MHz.

many ram kits stick to their rated speeds, it's simpler to find a kit you're sure can hit 3600 than one that might only reach it under certain conditions. usually a 3200 model won't manage 3600 with good timing.

I get that point, but for the G.Skill Trident Z - F4-3200C14D-16GTZ model, many discussions claim the RAM is essentially identical to the F4-3600C16D-16GTZ. Some even suggest you can swap them without any issues, like changing the 3600 to the 3200 and vice versa. People joke about different default settings but mostly agree they’re similar. Ragnarok also mentioned this earlier, noting that while the exact RAM isn’t specified, the 3200 can easily match the 3600 in timing. I’m still trying to confirm this for myself.
