Looking for insights from those with similar experience: Which tends to stay cooler when paired with the same cooler? I’m considering the 5600 model and wondering if it could improve performance beyond just higher IPC. I’m having trouble finding data on heat management, only general performance info. Any other suggestions would be helpful, but this might not fit the right topic.
They refer to the same thing, but it can differ based on design. The 5600x consumes around 67W, the 5600 65W uses 65W, and the 3600 delivers 80W under full load according to a test by gamers nexus.
I really don’t mind power much, but cooling is what matters most to me. At 1600 on OC it handled the same power, but was incredibly efficient. Less performance, but still functional. I can only use a quiet cooler, so I’m focused on its effectiveness. It seems like a modest temperature drop would work well, though every bit helps if I’m really committed to the Dan Case. I forgot about it then. I checked for tests on the 5600, but he has the data I needed.
Zen1 is quite manageable to cool down. I use the same case with a 1700 and it reaches close to 4.2GHz while consuming around 160W, staying under 80% of the time. A less powerful chip would also help, especially if your case has limited airflow, because it reduces internal heat buildup.
I'm focusing a lot on emulation, which is why I prefer the 5600. For regular gaming, I need at least six cores, so I'm also looking for a system with more than that.
