I’m working on upgrading my system gradually. The tasks involve heavy photo editing, moderate 4K editing plus gaming (currently 1080 UW, aiming for 1440 UW), and I’m unsure if a 3700X or saving the budget to a better GPU later would be better. Alternatively, I could go with a 3600X paired with an X570 AORUS motherboard, 32GB of 3000MHz RAM (I’ll try overclocking) and an 1070TI.

I don’t rely on Adobe tools. If you need high performance, I’d opt for an Intel processor instead. I appreciate Ryzen, though.

I’m exploring different paths now. Intel isn’t really a priority because I’m already using a 2600, and the part I’ll phase out will end up in another build I’ll sell to fund this project. PCIE Gen 4 is something I’d like to have once it’s ready. Basically, every couple months I replace a component and gradually assemble the rest of the system.

I’d choose the 3700x/3800x if it’s available at the same cost during a sale. I just bought the 3800x because it was $7 more than the 3700x.
