Hello everyone, I'm still figuring out the best CPU for a budget build. I was considering the 3300X at $229 AUD but someone suggested the i5-10400F instead. It's a bit confusing with Intel's naming conventions. One of the i5-10400F models has LGA1200 and costs $209 AUD, while another has LGA1156 and is $239 AUD. Are these different versions? Which one would be better? And should I go for Ryzen or Intel? My build will run Minecraft, Apex Legends, Blender, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, YouTube, and other games. Thanks!

Since 2010 there have been no new LGA1156 processors released.

The i5 model should perform better, though I assume you're referring to the 10400F and 11400F. The LGA1156 socket is quite outdated.

The i5-10400F is a budget option compared to the 3300X. There’s no LGA 1156 version of this chip, and LGA 1156 is considered outdated, typically lasting only up until 2011.

I conducted some investigation and arrived at the same conclusion—LGA1156 is mentioned on several sites.

LGA1200 is the connector used by 10th and 11th generation Intel processors. The LGA1156 is quite old and wouldn't fit the CPUs you're looking at in this class and price range. It might just be an error in the product details. For your tasks, a better option would be the 10400F. Using Premiere or Photoshop on a quad-core setup would be very challenging.

It's hard to say, but maybe they're just not thinking clearly.
