Hello, I recently acquired an excellent offer: a unopened 9700K and an Open Box Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ULTRA ATX LGA1151 motherboard. I intend to upgrade my existing system, which currently runs a 7600K with a 32GB 2400MHz memory setup. I’ve seen some benchmarking videos suggesting that boosting the RAM to 3000 or 3200 MHz could add roughly 5-10 FPS. It’s hard to justify the expense for such a new memory upgrade without clear evidence of its impact. I have some doubts, but nothing well explained. I’m seeking advice on this. Have others had similar experiences? Would I even notice a difference over time? Also, I plan to move from my GTX 1060 (6GB) with a standard setup to an RTX2080. Could there be any issues down the line? Thank you in advance!
Observe a boost when using faster RAM, but it’s possible to manually adjust the settings and see how much higher the clock speeds can go.
By the time you notice a real improvement in frame rate, your game will likely already be performing adequately—probably not enough to worry about. You might consider trying to overclock it, but I wouldn’t stress too much about it. Definitely not worth investing in a new setup.
