OS X is my top choice without any hesitation, and I assembled my gaming setup using a motherboard and parts that reliably perform on this OS. My hackintosh runs smoother than older builds, though still more pleasant than Windows. With Linux, I’m capable, but it falls short in nearly every area except flexibility and community help. I feel good about open-source, but it’s not as strong as Windows in most aspects.
Linux remains stable as long as you understand how to work with it. Unlike other systems, Linux is equally straightforward to troubleshoot. Most issues can be fixed without major hassle. Dependencies tend to handle themselves. Whenever you run apt, the necessary dependencies get resolved. If you prefer, you can use gdebi to install local packages and automatically manage dependencies.
