Really, make sure to save your files before proceeding. You wouldn’t want to transfer outdated information into the new system and rely on it functioning flawlessly.

I disliked it completely; it didn’t function at all and I went back. Most users aren’t experiencing issues, but when they do, it’s super frustrating and I found it really irritating!

I haven’t encountered any problems with the six machines updated to Windows 10 (personal or work systems). All the new touch screen devices we implement are running on Windows 10 and have performed well without any issues. I really appreciate it. I don’t engage in anything illegal that could raise concerns about data being sent to Microsoft.

I'm not sure about your concerns. What specifically are you asking about?

Make sure you understand the trade-offs with the free update. Upgrading from Windows 7 or 8 for free removes access to future updates and security fixes. A free upgrade to Windows 10 would provide four years of updates, after which you’d likely need to buy Windows again. Windows 8 and 7 will keep offering these features for another ten years, but after that you’ll lose much functionality.

Your ODD didn't function properly. The content was unclear or not visible, and everything felt much slower than expected.

Performing an upgrade functions similarly to a clean install—it keeps some software, while relocating all cached files from system32 etc. folders to a windows.old directory. It performs well and allows you to revert to version 8.1 within 30 days. Upgrading is definitely the better choice if you're hesitant; I've confirmed the rollback feature works reliably on two machines (tested just for curiosity).

Set up VMware, launch a VM, and run Windows 10 inside it to check if issues persist.
