Actually, W7 is more stable and reliable compared to W8.1. It’s user-friendly, which I appreciated. What I didn’t like about W8.1 was the first time I used it, it had missing essential menus and a removed metro UI template. It should be limited to tablets and tactile monitors, not desktop use!
I'm not familiar with how users interact with or perceive Windows 8. I haven't seen the Metro interface for a while. In Windows 7, the Start menu offered only a unified search, whereas in Windows 8.1 with Windows + Q you get a search directly on the desktop.
Been on Windows 8.1 for a week and it feels quite different from Windows 7. The gaming performance remains similar, though you might need some time adjusting. I’ve gotten used to it now and can handle most tasks the same way as before.
I've been running Windows 8.1 for a while without any crashes. I've noticed other operating systems failing, but those were on less experienced machines with viruses. Switching to ClassicStart brings me back to Windows 7.5, which I like. The Metro interface is slow and inefficient for me.
