I’d calculate 9950 multiplied by 3D over 9800 multiplied by 3D.
Computing involves more than just gaming, though that varies by person. When Windows is set up correctly, it selects the appropriate CCD. On my CPU, games play on the first CCD, utilizing the fastest cores available, and distribute workload as necessary. The 9950X3D offers better clock speeds than the 9800X3D significantly, enhancing performance. Even the 9900X uses the 9800X3D at a speed that’s over half a GHz faster, which improves overall responsiveness.
But if the scenario is just about gaming, you don’t need to push beyond a 9800X3D. The 227 dollars could go elsewhere. It’s not just about clock speeds—3D-VCache really makes a big difference. I’d still think a 5.25Ghz on a 9800X3D is smooth enough, lol. You won’t notice much difference between your 9900x and 9800X3D in terms of responsiveness. My own setup runs at 5.6Ghz anyway. The 9800X3D really delivers a snappier experience with its 'snappier 5.7Ghz 9950X'.
