Current hardware: MB: ROG Strix X570-F GAMING CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X RAM: 2x8GB Corsair DDR4-2666 As stated in title the question is if it's worth upgrading from 2666mhz to 3200mhz, or should I aim higher to have a noticeable effect. I recently upgraded to my current build with a package that was on sale because I couldn't afford to get all the parts I wanted then. But now another offer has popped up and I am considering upgrading. I know the Ryzen cpu wants better memory than I have, but I am uncertain that a 3200Mhz memory will do wonders for me, or if I should save some more and get a the much more expensive 3600Mhz memory which here is twice the price. Hope for some advice.

See around an 8% boost in games and benchmarks from 2666 to 3600. Focus not just on speed but also on latency, so consider either 3200 CL14 15 or max 16. If you can afford it, go for 3600 CL16.

I believe switching from one memory type to a much lower percentage of MHz won’t clearly show a big improvement that’s easy to spot beyond standard test scores. This means the quicker memory won’t really boost game performance noticeably or cut down processing times in another application.

He won't notice a big change from 3200 to 3600, yet he'll observe a clear difference between 2666 and either 3200 or 3600.

I believe the variation isn't large enough to be obvious without concrete data like a counter count, benchmark scores, or completion times. But since you mentioned upgrading purely for enjoyment without worrying about time or budget, it's definitely possible.

Ram, what bothers me the most is the huge number of producers compared to AMD/Intel. Still, with a 3600mhz/CL16+ setup I’ve identified a few options, though prices fluctuate a lot. For example, HyperX Predator DDR4 RGB 3600MHz 2x16GB CL17 with XMP 2.0 costs around $200, while G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 RGB 3600Mhz 4x8GB CL16 also runs XMP 2.0 for about $450. From what I see, the HyperX looks like a solid pick—it lets you upgrade both RAM and clock speed at a fair price. Emosun, it’s worth noting I’m planning a 16GB → 32GB jump, and I was thinking of just adding another 16GB at 2666mhz, but now upgrading to faster speeds is on the table. So technically it’s more than just a casual change, though I still hope it brings some excitement.

These prices appear quite steep considering the location.

This seems sensible, the alternative isn't worth it.
