I'm weighing the Ryzen 7600 $269.99 CAD against the Ryzen 7800X3D $539.99 CAD for my upcoming setup. I understand the 7800X3D is ideal for gaming, but it costs about a hundred dollars more than the 7600. It looks like the 7600 can manage 1440P playback. My concern is whether that extra cost is justified—will the 7800X3D offer enough longevity to cover a few more years? I don’t have solid data to compare them directly. Coming from a previous 3600X and 5600XT build, I know those still perform well for 1080P and lower 1440P settings, especially for games like Forza Motorsport where low settings are necessary. I’m also considering whether the 4070 Super or Ti Super might be worth the investment once more.

You should consider the 5800x3D path instead of a full platform upgrade if your setup is 3600x. Unless you’re aiming for 4080/4090 and using 4K, 5800x3D will suffice for several years before you’ll need a complete overhaul.

I share the same view as @Shimejii. @nitroblue, for 4070S or 4070 TieS setups, the 5700X3D or 5800X3D offers performance in the 7600 to 7700XT range with quieter frame rates, especially in competitive shooters. This lets you reuse current components like the motherboard and RAM, and potentially upgrade the GPU or monitor. What are your current specs?

I've developed a fondness for my 58X3D. It's a great compact processor. Easy to keep cool, making it ideal for a peaceful gaming setup.
