I mostly enjoy Android games such as Pubg Mobile and Free Fire using an emulator. A Ryzen 5 2600 costs $120 while a Ryzen 5 3500 is $130 in my country. Which one suits emulation best? If none, I can invest up to $150 on the CPU. Please recommend an alternative option.
It's worth adding $10 to the 3500 model for better performance. The 3500 offers a higher boost clock (3.6 GHz base, 4.1 GHz boost) compared to the 2600 (3.4 GHz base, 3.9 GHz boost), which helps with applications that don't rely heavily on multithreading. It also supports PCI-E 4.0, whereas the 2600 only has PCI-E 3.0. Jaslion noted that 3500 lacks SMT support, so the 2600 becomes a more suitable choice. There’s no uncertainty at all. The 3500 lacks sufficient memory, so you’re using only half the threads and a 6-core CPU barely manages in modern games.
Choose the R5 3500 for better performance. While some games benefit from more threads and others don't, this model offers a higher IPC that compensates for the fewer threads compared to the 2600. Still, it provides six threads, which is sufficient.
