I was also considering the Ryzen 3 3200G, which offers four cores and four threads. It supports boosting to 4GHz and with overclocking I might be able to raise its speed slightly.

These Ryzen 3000 APUs share the same design as the R5 2600. If you don’t require the integrated GPU, opt for the R5 2600 or its variant with the 2600X.

It’s not recommended to go stock cooler on this. I was thinking about getting a Cryorig M9 Plus, but I’m unsure because it’s relatively inexpensive.

The 3200G and 3400G maintain the same Zen+ status as the 2600, and they don’t switch to Zen 2 like the 3600, 3700, or 3900.

It seems you're confirming your choice well. All 3000 series models use Zen 2 processors. You're happy with that and planning to buy the Ryzen 5 2600.
