I was reviewing the specifications for both CPUs and noticed the 9700 reaches a maximum turbo boost of 4.7GHz while the 9700k hits 4.9GHz. If I were to install a dedicated motherboard, the 9700k would likely offer better performance compared to the 9700. It's more about the gains rather than price differences.

Remember that the Max turbo refers to a single core boost, not all-core enhancement. The variation is almost negligible. Personally, I favor the 3700X. The i7 might offer a few extra single cores, but the Ryzen provides twice as many threads.

Locked motherboard speeds will stay consistent (+/- a few percent). 4.7 and 4.9 are just boosts for single-core performance. More cores usually mean slower results. Keep in mind that real-world speed improvements from overclocking are rarely significant. 9700 and 9700K will perform well whether you overclock them or not. Of course, many recommend Ryzen options right now. Don't stress about it—Intel remains a solid option, even if it's pricier (especially for Mac users who often pay more).

Why would you receive a locked board? Consider paying the extra $40 for a more affordable Z series board. If you're struggling financially, perhaps it's best not to spend that much on a computer.
