I checked the options on PCPartPicker and found the i7 13700F and i7 13700KF. The base core clock speeds differ, with the 13700KF offering a higher starting frequency. For gaming performance, the higher base speed of the 13700KF may provide better stability and responsiveness. You can watch a comparison video here: [link to comparison video].

Additionally, the K variant can be reduced in voltage to achieve lower temperatures and power consumption—this method isn't applicable to the non-K model.

Hey there, if you're into competitive multiplayer or esports, you probably want top performance at 1080 or 1440p. The 13700K or KF are solid choices since they support overclocking. If you're okay with around 120 FPS using VRR and enjoy the visuals in 4K, GPU power matters more than CPU strength—just make sure you have a capable GPU paired with it. Just keep in mind that 'F' variants don’t run on iGPUs, which can be super useful for fixing issues.

I question this. I’ve been lowering the voltage on my non K 12400. I believed the K means unlocked multiplier. Edited August 11, 2023 by leclod

Based on what you discovered online, custom settings may not work properly with non-K CPU models.

Your processor was set to a lower voltage of 1.004V while under load in CPU-Z, increasing from 1.028V.

I checked the links you mentioned. The feedback varies, and some users report a 12400 rating while others say their CPU is underclocked. Two techniques helped me: the standard offset method and now a "CPU Lite Load Mode 9 instead of Mode 12 curve," which gives even better results. Note that Intel XTU isn't compatible with non-K CPUs. It could also relate to the motherboard. There isn't a K version available for the 12400, which might explain why it's different. Additionally, the 12400 doesn't include E-Cores.
