Compare the I5 4690 and I7 4790K to see which performs better.
Hello! I just received a free i7 4790k from a friend who upgraded their computer. I'm curious about how much the performance will improve. Thanks!
You can find many examples on Google Images by searching "4690 vs 4790k." The actual difference varies based on the specific task you're performing.
It can have a small or large impact, based on your goals. For instance, if you're aiming for a CPU-intensive game like BF5, the i5 may fall short due to its 4C/4T architecture, whereas an i7 could handle the GPU workload better thanks to hyper-threading. Because it's a K-series chip, you might also achieve extra speed by overclocking.
Sorry, I didn't include any additional information. For gaming like Cod MW, World of Tanks, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Skyrim, and Doom, I also use my PC with VMware Workstation for my network lab.
I7 4790K is a really awesome chip still, there is a definite step up in performance from the 4690 but how much is going to depend on what you are doing
Overclocking the i7-4790K creates a noticeable boost. Reaching the 4.8 GHz range moves you closer to the i7-6770K stock performance. Without overclocking, the gap would mainly be in additional threads. If your software or games don’t require extra threads, the performance difference stays minimal.
