You have an i5-8400 with 32GB DDR4 RAM and an Aorus RX5700i processor. A new i7-9700K is available for about $250, which is a significant upgrade. Consider whether the performance boost justifies the cost compared to your current setup. Alternatively, you might explore a Ryzen 5 5600X and a compatible motherboard if budget allows. Waiting could mean missing out on better performance soon.
What kind of motherboard are you using? You need solid cooling for a 9700k, and you're looking for something that costs more than a Ryzen setup. I’d just hold off on the 5600x.
my motherboard is a Gigabyte H310M H rev1.0. the i7 9700k fits within the supported CPU range, but I’m aware that the motherboard limits overclocking. I’m unsure why the non-K version costs more despite being cheaper than the K model. Regarding my cooler, I currently use a Thermaltake UX100 ARGB unit, but I intend to upgrade to a 240mm AIO if I decide to go with the 9700K.
