Slightly off the radar, I just acquired a 3600 under a year old for an incredibly favorable deal—cheaper than a brand new 10400f and obviously the comparable boards are even more affordable. It’s not quite the headline piece like the 5600x, but it still offers solid performance at roughly a third of the cost.
I noticed the prices have dropped significantly compared to what I paid earlier. At 315 EUR for a 5600X and 360 EUR for a 3800X, now you’re getting a great deal. With these current rates, you won’t have to complain. The store’s listed price for a 5600X here is about 380 EUR (450 USD).
I’m working on a small project right now where I’m assembling a mid-range rig using the best value components I can locate. I’ll share the update once it’s done. It’s a bit of a shortcut since I had the GPU before things got really volatile, but I’m aiming to stay under £400 with solid quality parts. Back on the main point, it really comes down to how much effort the person wants and whether price matters, though I think the 3600x still stands strong in my opinion.
