Imagine you own a 3080ti that’s now maxed out at 5.1ghz with an i7-8700K overclocked. Many recent titles run smoothly in this setup, especially when you’re playing at 1440P and using VR with Quest 3 (mostly sim racing). The 5800X3D is a bit pricier but offers better performance, while the 9700X and 13600K could work with future upgrades. The 12700K might be built from used parts, so it’s worth considering. 9700x might be too much, but a 9600x or even 7600 would work just fine.
You're aiming for a higher performance setup, focusing on better IPC, more cores, faster cores, and quicker memory. That makes sense for an upgrade.
This setup offers great value compared to other options. The 9700X is already affordable, so why choose a more expensive 7xx series? It makes sense to go with what works best for your needs.
I usually replace the CPU every five years or so...I hope it stays that way.
It suggests a 9700x isn't necessary and implies the processor could be more affordable otherwise.
