Since you recently won an auction for a B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi, you’ll likely run the CPU on that board.
Yes, with a solid edge. Likely not. If your system handles many background tasks or focuses on heavy processing, extra cores help, but for gaming only six cores are sufficient and most games don’t need more than that. Unless you’re doing something different (and even then), go for the 3600.
Got a 3600 and a B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi for $250. Thinking about beating my 4.5GHz OC. This board offers better VRMs than my Aorus M, so I’m ready to go! My target is 4.7GHz. Also added a 16GB kit of the same Corsair LPX RAM I previously bought. The CL16 runs at 3200MHz but I managed to hit 3666MHz stable this time. This round I’ll push the modules and fine-tune the timings even more.
3600 was the right answer, but zen+ is moving quite slowly these days. I wouldn't recommend going beyond 1.3v on Zen 2 chips—those early voltage specs were close to that. It's unclear if things have gotten better since then. One person tried running 1.35v across all cores on a 3600 and it dropped below the original specs within three months, just for reference.
