You're considering two options for your gaming PC: the Ryzen 5 3600 or a 2600. It depends on your budget and performance needs—both can work well with a 144Hz 1080p display. The Ryzen 5 3600 offers better multi-core performance, while the 2600 is more affordable.

3600 offers extra advantages for the high refresh rate display. The second generation performs less well at very high frame rates.

I own a 144hz monitor paired with a 5700XT and an R5 2600. My CPU stays under 50% load in Doom, Fallout 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2. In RDR2 I must stick to low graphics, while other games run smoothly at ultra. Hope this gives you some insight.
