You're just starting with antivirus software—great choice! There are many top options out there, but some popular picks include Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and McAfee. Each has its strengths depending on your needs. Would you like a quick comparison?

If you truly believe you require it, choose Norton. Among the antivirus solutions I've tried, it stood out as the most comprehensive and secure.

Since Windows Vista added frequent prompts about letting changes through, avoiding full infections is nearly impossible unless a new vulnerability exists that Microsoft hasn’t fixed—or you enabled something risky. Windows Defender works well and uses minimal system resources, making it the top choice. Focus your concerns on unnecessary software, hidden trackers, and other potential threats. Malwarebytes can assist with those issues at no cost. In short, just don’t agree to a virus; otherwise, advanced threats will bypass even the best protection.

I've consistently used Avast, Norton demands excessive system resources, Avast appears to consume minimal processing power, and I haven't tested Bitdefender yet.

I detect a troll. Stick with Avast—I’ve used it for years without issues. Norton really hampers performance and offers little protection. I haven’t tried Bitdefender yet.

It checks all files you save for harmful programs, looks for dangers on websites, this level of protection is hard to match. Earlier, my system worked well with Norton, keeping me safe from viruses and malware many times.

There are i-totots here because rules get ignored sometimes. It seems the forum isn't limited to just intellectuals, and people from different backgrounds are joining.

I've relied on Windows Defender for the past three years and it's performing well. It's also a free solution.

The top antivirus isn't about being naive, and that's simple.
