No one has shared detailed reviews or comparisons for the three options in that Windows Creator update feature, specifically the "Spatial Sound" setting. You've tested all three and noticed some subtle differences, possibly with a bit of fuzziness or distortion, especially when using your Harmon-Kardon IENC speakers. The background noise from Nahimic 2 might also affect the experience. It seems like a personal impression rather than a formal review.
Logitech Gaming Software is set up per profile on my G430. Certain titles play clearer with DTS, others with Dolby, and some such as Age of Empires have no sound effects at all.
Dolby Atmos Theater offers impressive audio, but you must pair it with the right speaker configuration and content. The codec fee adds extra cost. Dolby Atmos Headphones provide an emulated experience; still, you need the content and the appropriate codec. Windows Sonic delivers effects uniformly across all areas—your choice based on preference. None of these options deliver the optimal sound for every type of material or music. If your Blu-ray collection uses Dolby Atmos, acquiring the codec is essential.
I experimented with them for a few weeks and noticed that generally when I'm listening to music or watching videos, Atmos works best. However, when playing Rainbow Six: Siege, Windows Sonic delivers the optimal performance. Early on, while using Windows Sonic during R6: Siege, it felt more like an "experience." I was nearly overwhelmed—almost had a heart attack. The game was completely quiet; no gunfire or noise. Everyone was moving very quietly and cautiously. Just as I was about to turn a corner through a doorway, I realized there was another player sneaking past on the opposite side. We both suddenly collided, turning sharply into the same space. Normally it wouldn't be that intense, but with Windows Sonic active, it felt like a major scare because the sounds of the encounter and gunshots were much louder and echoed through the virtual environment.
I also think it’s better to play R6S on Windows Sonic. I own the Steelseries Siberia 350, which isn’t a top headset but feels quite comfortable for me. Their DTS surround sounds are decent, though. When I add Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic together, the audio becomes really immersive. With Atmos it feels cinematic, while Windows Sonic gives a more detailed, realistic experience of the game world.
