Feeling stuck and searching online, I wonder if it’s even possible. I’m running an I7 10700K OC at 5.1ghz on the Z490-E board. I’m checking what upgrades might be worth considering compared to this chipset, especially for 10th and 11th generation models.

Intel doesn't offer a single socket that delivers superior performance, relying instead on their consistent tick-tock strategy. No 11th generation chip will surpass the 10th in noticeable speed, and the same applies to previous generations like 9-8th. It's wiser to stick with your existing CPU or upgrade to a 13th generation system with a new motherboard, or simply wait for further advancements.

In certain titles my i9 9900k performs similarly to an i7 1700k, while in others it struggles due to more cores or better performance per instruction and cache. The GPU also plays a role. With both a RTX 2080 and a 3080 Ti, the 5800x managed to surpass the 160fps mark at 1080p, but the 3080 Ti couldn’t keep up. At higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K, the difference becomes more noticeable. The game relies heavily on CPU resources, so the 3080 Ti can’t generate extra frames with the i9 9900k. At 1440p it improves, and at 4K it’s entirely GPU-driven. It also utilizes multiple cores, which affects performance whether you have a 10 or 12-core CPU paired with a 3080 Ti. This game is extremely demanding on CPU power, and the results vary based on resolution and hardware setup.
