You have an i7-4770 with an LGA 1150 motherboard, while your friend gave you an i5-4690 for testing. You checked benchmarks and want to know which is quicker. Thanks for asking!

4770 offers improved performance in multi-threaded scenarios with its 4 cores and 8 threads. 4690 provides only 4 threads and lacks the extra bandwidth. While it has a higher base frequency, it sacrifices cache size and TDP. The upgrade should shine in demanding multithreaded games, potentially delivering a modest boost—perhaps around 5% or more in heavy workloads.

It's a bit pricier by around $20, but considering the performance it remains a worthwhile choice.

It offered excellent value for its price (according to what I've heard). Would you believe it could handle games like TF2, CS:GO, and Portal well?

It's slowly becoming outdated, but it should work well in most games. (Thanks for the money you spent on it!)
