Lots of lanes available on z490 for casual users. Unless you're handling many M.2 drives and GPUs, it should work just fine.

PCIE connections from CPU and PCH are working properly, but a M.2 slot can use up to two SATA ports based on its type.

I haven’t had the system running continuously, but I’ve managed with Raid 5. The HHD remains protected until 2022.
