Hi there, I'm trying to figure this out. I have a Gskill Trident Z5 DDR5 kit for my Ryzen 7 7700X, but I just learned the Gskill Trident Z5 Neo is the AMD version and I own the Intel one. Is my non-Neo G skill Trident Z5 RAM compatible with my processor? Or should I return it? I'm not too sure. Thanks!

Check compatibility with CPU and motherboard. Provide product number for non-NEO RAM (e.g., F4-3600C16Q-32GTZN) and your motherboard model.

If you already have it, don't return it. If you don't own either, get the Neos. There are two differences between the two kits, the SPD programming and the heat spreaders (IIRC the Neos have a slightly different accent color). PCB and memory chip wise they're the exact same kits of memory assuming they're in the same bin, so compatibility should be the exact same if they're running the same settings. The issue that can come up is the fact that it's an XMP kit rather than EXPO. A lot of AMD motherboards haven't put the time and effort into configuring the XMP enable settings on their AMD systems, so it's not uncommon to see it where you try to enable XMP and it either fails to train or ends up being wildly unstable for whatever reason. The solution to this is to just manually enter in the XMP profile's parameters (timings, frequency, and voltage) which isn't really a big deal, but it's more effort than just flipping a switch like what XMP is advertised to do and depending on how comfortable you are in a BIOS it can be a little overwhelming. That shouldn't be a problem with an EXPO kit like the Neos, hence why I said if they're the same price and you don't already own one, get the Neos to save yourself a little bit of effort.

The motherboard is the Gigabyte x670 Aorus Elite AX Rev 1.0, while the RAM package you own is the GSKILL Trident Z5 F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5RK.

Your RAM appears in the motherboard's QVL (memory compatibility list). It should function perfectly fine.

Thank you. Yes, that should work at 6000MHz. I’m still a bit confused about the incorrect RAM package.

Yes in theory. It appears in the QVL for your motherboard and works with XMP RAM on most AM5 boards.

Thanks for the assistance. I'll attempt to exchange my kit for the NEO version if possible. At least I now understand it remains supported even if I can't return it. Appreciate the help!
