I was checking whether GHz, cores, or threads perform best. Most other guides don’t explain it clearly, so I wanted to get an opinion from people who use these specs. Also, I’m trying to decide what’s better for gaming versus tasks like rendering or video editing.

You're asking about the differences between various CPU metrics. It's important to note that clock speeds, core count, and thread count aren't identical—unless the processor doesn't support SMT/HT, then cores and threads are similar. Beyond those numbers, a CPU has additional features like the FPU, cache organization, IPC, and MIPS, which play significant roles in performance.

Having more cores, threads, or quicker clock speeds would boost game performance the most.

Threads: CPU clock speed details, core count insights, and game performance considerations.
Spoiler: Benchmark results guide my choices since performance varies across different CPUs.

That's not completely accurate, as mentioned by @TofuHaroto, since there are additional elements involved.

Balance is essential. Certain games need many cores, others just a few, and clock speed isn't the whole picture for single-threaded performance. An outdated chip running fast clocks can fall behind a newer chip with slower speeds. This is why "instructions per clock" becomes important.

these are completly different things. unless: ^. it's not that simple, there's the cache layout, ipc, fpu, imc. it's not that simple lol.
