You have 8GB DDR3 RAM and are considering adding another identical unit, but the same model is unavailable. If you switch to a different brand or model, focus on compatibility with your current CPU and motherboard. Since you can't upgrade to DDR4, plan for a future PC after graduation.

Typically it's the die that sets compatibility, some work well together while others clash. Check using a thaiphoon burner or examine the ICs if you don’t have a heat spreader. Also, what RAM do you currently have? A photo would be useful.

Thanks for the guidance. I’ll look into it. I currently have a Corsair XMS 8GB model, and it’s listed on Amazon.com, though it seems unavailable in my region.
