I've had plenty of buggy asus boards in my days. You need to watch out for that. but I've never had problems with msi boards. I'm using one myself atm. A b550 one and it's a brilliant board. Btw the b550 board I have has PCI-e gen 4.

Unless you're adding several PCIe 4.0 SSDs, choose the B550 Tomahawk. The chipset doesn't provide PCIe 4.0 lanes, but the CPU does. It's sufficient for a GPU and an NVMe SSD to operate at 4.0 speeds.
