My friend asked for a CPU suggestion for a setup with a 2070 Super. I considered the R5 3600 first, then noticed the Intel Core i5 9600K matches the price and is better suited for gaming. Since only games are planned, this CPU could provide sufficient performance without needing the latest AMD chips. My friend isn’t rushing for new tech, so this option seems practical.
If they haven't gotten their motherboard yet, they can surely wait for the launch to see what happens pricing wise. I wouldn't go with the 9600k. 10600k, yes, but not the 9th gen. Well I mean, not everyone knows about tech. Doesn't make them dumb. Some might say not spelling words properly might indicate that
9600k experiences stutter in unoptimized games, especially when run on non-SMT CPUs, which is a shame since it's otherwise a solid chip for its cost. The 3600 offers about 10% lower framerates at 1080p using an 2080ti, but it runs smoothly without stutters or dropped frames. A 2070 provides a smaller gap, and even at higher resolutions or with RTX enabled, the difference diminishes. Since it's not on an outdated platform, the 3600 remains the top recommendation here.
