Certainly it won’t keep up with the sandy bridge on IPC, but you’ll boost FPS if you properly overclock it. Games rely not just on IPC but also on core and thread counts; do you think the i5 isn’t as strong as it once was because they only have 4 cores and 4 threads? Edited May 6, 2020 by HD1 star wars
@Mister Woof You should also consider the Intel weaknesses that can reduce your CPU's speed gradually. I’d go for the FX model since it supports eight threads, which helps with gaming performance even when background apps run.
