I prefer performance over appearance. With my main system, I don’t need to sacrifice graphics quality for higher FPS. At my mom’s place, I adjusted the resolution to 720p for a more fluid experience.

It depends on the game. For quick, competitive, or multiplayer titles I’d favor a better frame rate. For narrative-driven experiences with more relaxed pacing, higher resolution might be preferable.

I really struggle to distinguish between 30 and 60 frames per second. Likely it’s because both offer a big boost compared to my 10 FPS Minecraft game on my MacBook Air from 2011.

720p at 60fps works best on a smaller screen. If not, aim for 1080p with 60fps. Avoid anything at 30fps—Dark Souls is the only one I tolerate at that speed because it’s solid and engaging.
