The decision depends on your timeline. If the build is scheduled for March, consider whether waiting could impact your goals.

It's September—perhaps delay action until March.

There hasn't been any confirmed announcement about Intel desktop CPUs prior to Alder Lake, which was anticipated around the end of 2021. The next generation, Rocket Lake, is suspected to be in development. If it materializes, it would likely need to appear by early next year at the earliest, otherwise the time gap between generations would become significant.

Are you sure? I thought preplanning was something that could wait until later.

I struggle a lot with saving, so I’m buying parts one by one. I understand it’s not ideal, but I’m doing my best.

I feel the same. Rather than buying items in pieces because a faulty one might break, you could wait for the warranty or return window to end. Few stores will accept exchanges then. Have you thought about paying someone to keep it? I give my wife £300 each month and ask her not to return it until I save £1500 so I can buy everything at once.

You can simply create what you need and replace the 11700k with whatever fits your requirements

I don’t have anyone to share it with. I even visited the bank to open a restricted savings account, but I had to go to a branch to withdraw funds instead of using online services, and I ended up spending it on unnecessary items.
