I understand I'm running late, but I didn't realize Tomb Raider had an included benchmark. It seems it just plays a video and lets you run a 2-minute Fraps test if you're right about that. A. Is this a legitimate benchmark? I’m not into doing millions of identical runs like Luke does, so I find it interesting. B. Are there similar games?

It's accurate. It's a live rendering that effectively simulates many of the intense shadow effects from Mordor, meeting the standard requirements.

It's acceptable since it remains consistent with each execution, though games differ with every attempt.

Word. Appears to be a solid offer. It’ll need to be set up on each device, haha! Nice saving $5. Are there any other titles with similar features besides Mordor?

Hitman Absolution features a performance metric. Batman: Arkham Origins also includes a similar benchmark.

The distinction lies in how the GPU processes visuals. In real-time rendering like games, calculations happen instantly as the scene updates. The Tomb Raider test is real-time but lacks interactive input, making it a reliable standard.

The Crysis titles offer performance checks, Codemasters racers feature similar metrics, and many PC titles include them. They help assess how your setup matches the game’s expectations. Some games, such as Crysis, don’t display benchmarks within the main game; instead, they rely on scripts located in the game’s folders. These scores aren’t always a perfect reflection of what you’ll encounter while playing, as they can either misrepresent or exaggerate the game’s workload based on your choices. For instance, a game that lets you choose stealth or carpet bombing will typically show fewer particle effects and higher FPS when played stealthily, though this is just an example and doesn’t apply universally.

You can also create your own benchmarks in all Source games and mods by recording a demo and replaying it. That's quite cool!
