I'm searching for a tiny, portable media PC that can also work as a compact streaming box for home use. The ZBox Pico from Zotac fits the bill—it’s lightweight, quiet, includes a H.264 decoder, and comes with Windows pre-installed at a good price. However, when it comes to streaming in high quality, the ZBox tends to drop many frames, as noted by reviewers. Are there any other small, energy-efficient PCs that handle streaming well? I'm looking for something affordable and effective. Thanks!

The initial idea would likely be a Gigabyte Brix Gaming product.

I stream using Steam with HW-acceleration on a Pentium G3258 and everything functions properly. You don’t require a costly CPU or a dedicated GPU for basic tasks like streaming.

Absolutely, creating your own small media setup using chips like the AMD 860K or Pentium G3258 can manage streaming effectively as long as your connection is strong.

For a compact media PC, consider a slim laptop or a portable desktop with a decent processor and enough storage.
