I'm not sure which section of this forum this belongs to. I use Comcast, also known as Xfinity, since it's the only reliable option besides dial-up. I'm in New Mexico, and the limited choices make me feel a bit strange. Anyway, I'm thinking about switching to Star Link. Who uses it and how does it compare to Xfinity? I'm curious because Comcast is moving toward aggressive tactics like robocalls and extreme throttling. It was rough in 2020, but now it's sporadic—sometimes it works, sometimes not. I've had issues with streaming services like Amazon or TV shows stopping mid-play when the connection drops. It's frustrating. One thing that bothers me is snow; it might block satellite signals even if the dish looks clear. Another issue is that it's a TV signal with all the associated complications.

Due to the ongoing waitlists for Starlink, installation would likely be available between late 2022 and early 2023.

Wow, that's a hot topic! Or maybe they're not producing enough meals?

What's really going on with companies these days? I'd be surprised if user support was better than Comcast.

I've got a new dragon on my lawn. I'm tired of Comcast acting like a bunch of jerks. My top three needs are much faster raw speed, better uptime, and improved support compared to ConCast. They don't seem to care until I get angry on the phone, which is frustrating. I haven't gotten them to listen or send someone to climb a pole in front of my drive unless I make them. That's not good. It really hurts my head sometimes. Getting 80 to 90% uptime would be a big upgrade for me.

Thats funny because Im with Comcast and have none of those problems. Most of the time I get 20% more than what is paid for with their over provisioning. Comcast doesnt throttle, 9 time out of 10 its eiather your have a problem with your service and your modem is not grabbing on to all the downstream/upstream channels or your node is overloaded. Same thing with dropping of service, thats a lot of time interference on the coax. That interference could be within your own home or out on the network. I would ask your neighbors if they have issues. My only grip with them is the stupid data caps. Because we have the curb usage a bit, especially as we get closer to xmas as we tend to be home more as its Michgian and its cold and crappy outside.

It could be related to a satellite problem. There might not be sufficient satellites and ground stations to meet the needs
